ABOUT US
Garalapin House is a warm and welcoming bed and breakfast, run by Samantha & Clive located in the small crofting township of Woodend, near Portree. Originally the main house for the large croft, Garalapin House is now our family home. Previous owners of the house and croft have included the headmaster of the local school and his family who in the 1970s kept chickens, goats and horses. Although no longer a working croft, we sit in an acre of land which is surrounded by beautiful rural countryside and is home to our chickens and ducks.

If you are seeking peace and quiet in a beautiful location then Garalapin House is the ideal place for you to rest your legs after a long day exploring our picturesque island. Once you're rested and in need of refreshment, you will not have far to travel as the lively pubs, hotel bars and restaurants of Portree are only 3 miles away. Our nearest neighbours to one side are a mile away in the the next township of Peiness. Only fields, stunning views and sheep are between us. On the other side, we have the Portree Stables and it's not unusual to find one of the horses or ponies up at the fence wanting some attention.

As parents to young children ourselves we happily welcome families into our home. We have many facilities available to make your stay a comfortable and enjoyable one, for the parents, and children. Children are welcome to explore our garden, feed the hens with any scraps and play on our trampoline, climbing frame and treehouse*. We offer a Family Room (2 adults & 2 children) with it's own private bathroom and a Double Room En-suite.

Being so central on the island makes it easy for our guests to access the island's main attractions from Portree Harbour Boat Trips to Dunvegan Castle or to Talisker Distillery. For those who play golf, the nearby Skeabost Country House Hotel can offer you a 9 hole, 18 tee golf course and for those who enjoy fishing, the nearby River Snizort is a favoured and popular river for wild sea trout and salmon fishing. We are a 'fisherman/woman friendly' B&B and can offer an earlier breakfast time and for a small charge, provide a packed lunch. Clive is a keen fisherman and also fly tyer and a selection of traditional flies can be purchased from us. See our Things To Do page for contact details of our local Ghillie, Garry Shaw of Skyeflyguy.

All over Skye you are spoiled with never-ending beautiful scenery and views you will remember forever. Wildlife is plentiful with many opportunities to see eagles, buzzards, herons, deer, otters, dolphins and minke whales.
